There's an Italian character called Uncle Nicky – known to be a gambler, all-round ladies' man and fan of fast cars – who is always escorted by two unnamed women, one hanging off each arm. In the first episode, when Angela's class takes an excursion to the space museum, there's an alarmingly racist portrayal of an Asian-American woman who speaks in broken English. At first I thought this show was pretty annoying, but then I realize it its kind of more about the challenges the Angela faces at school, which is a pretty annoying place, so that makes sense. The show's cast was actually quite diverse, but like many toons in the 90s, it still had a long way to go in terms of representation. A series of events in the Anaconda household lead Angela to believe that she is not a real Anaconda and must be adopted. Angela, Anaconda, this guy cane had some really funny bits, and I have revenge fantasies all the time, but the animation makes me think future me may end up bringing this up and therapy one day. The show is most memorable for its unique cartoon style, what's referred to as 'cutout animation' (this technique is also used by South Park, hence the characters' jerky movements.)īasically, black and white photographs of the faces of real people are superimposed, bobble-head style, onto colourful computer-generated frames – but still have greyscale human limbs. For example: The animation is terrifying. She had a short (which caused a divorce) that played before the American release of Digimon: The Movie, causing a child named Anon to cry to the point where everyone else starts leaving the theater. In fact when looking back at the program, it turns out a lot of it was pretty messed up. She’s not part of The Horrible Piano Players Club, but She does support it, owns a piano and plays the piano horribly. Angela Anaconda: Sure, I will behave at the funeral. Sam: So pay attention to what Clover said or else youre in massive trouble. If not, you will be grounded and sent to Macys Thanksgiving Parade from 1940 to get jumpscared by Laffo the Clown. In the show's opening titles, Angela sung about Nanette being a "stuck-up, jerk-faced snob," which was a fairly severe burn for its time. You will be coming with us to Thuy Trangs funeral.
